The Alaska Department of Fish and Game announces an emergency order closure of the State registration moose hunt in Unit 22C by permit RM850 at 11:59 p.m. September 18, 2009. The portion of Unit 22C closed by this emergency order includes the antlerless moose hunt in the Nome and Snake River drainages.

The Department established a harvest quota of 5 antlerless moose for registration permit hunt RM850 in the portion of Unit 22C that includes the Nome and Snake River drainages. RM850 is one of 2 antlerless moose hunts held annually in Unit 22C to slow population growth in the area and each hunt uses harvest quotas to minimize overharvest of the antlerless segment of the population.

Antlerless Hunt RM852 in the remainder of Unit 22C remains open at this time, and permit holders can hunt until the harvest quota of 10 antlerless moose is reached or until the season closing date of September 30 if the harvest quota is not reached.
